Test 2: Head On

South Africa Vs India
2nd Test – 26-30 December, 2013 - Durban

South Africa
South Africa have reworked their balance and adjusted their responsibilities. This is a smart move, especially as team India will come strongly at them. They do still carry a little disappointment from not having won the first test, but they will manage to overcome this through a stronger performance during this test.

1st Innings
The batsman will have a tentative start – application and focus will be key; this will lead to a good first innings. Initial bowling will be troubled – it's towards the end that bowling will come through well. Fielding will be confident.

2nd Innings
Batting may not have the most ideal start but a strong partnership could see them out of trouble. Bowling will be alert and balanced. Fielding will not look too good.

The Captain – Graeme Smith
Smith ticks a lot of boxes, but he will easily get distracted by the negatives and this may cloud his usual sound judgement.

India
There is a sense of command coming through from team India. The fact that they're listening to their gut instincts will work in their favour. They must be careful of not getting disappointed by the smallest of setbacks – picking themselves up will be key.

1st Innings
The batsman will apply themselves and work hard in developing their innings. It's towards the latter half that their weaknesses will be exploited. Bowling will be aggressive with a few basic lapses in between. Fielding will need to improve.

2nd Innings
Overall batting will be confident, well planned, but minor errors by the middle order will be a cause for concern. Bowling will be balanced – aggressive yet well directed. Fielding will start off well, but maintaining this will be a challenge.

The Captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni
It's a strange sort of a game for Dhoni. He will chop and change his plans quite often and may not reflect the most confidence but this does change. He will be inspired, gain control from which will stem some wise decisions.

Tarot Advantage
India

Test 1 - Challenging Opener

South Africa Vs India
1st Test – 18-22 December, 2013 - Johannesburg

South Africa
South Africa will quite obviously appear comfortable on their home turf, but don't be fooled by this ease. Certain issues will be quite apparent and somewhat surprising. They will have to battle harder than expected.

1st Innings
Batsmen will put together some good partnerships, but not without having to work hard for it. Initial bowling will show good promise only for them to face some resistance. Fielding will have to step up.

2nd Innings
Batting and bowling will be balanced, confident and better focused than the first innings. Fielding will still fall short of expected standards.

The Captain – Graeme Smith
There is calculated aggression in Smith's captaincy. He strides ahead through clear judgement and confidence. He will have to be careful of over-confidence.

India
Team India seems to be on the back-foot – initially feeling a little defensive. They will take their time to adjust, which is a good thing especially as their balance will improve. Their hard work and application will be obvious.

1st Innings
Batting may not have the most ideal start – it's the team work that will steady the innings and give it strength and respectability. Bowling will maintain a focussed tempo, only to appear a little anxious in parts. Fielding will be sharper.

2nd Innings
Batting will be in sync – commanding and even aggressive at times. Bowling will be inconsistent but with some moments of brilliance. Fielding will be shaky.

The Captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Dhoni's captaincy will be instinctive (which may seem unrealistic at times). It's as if he has a point to prove making his aggressive intentions quite evident.

Tarot Advantage
Draw (with an Advantage edge to India)

ODI 3 - A Tough One

South Africa Vs India
3rd ODI – 11 December, 2013 - Centurion

South Africa
There is an obvious star quality about the South African team this series, but even they will show some kinks in their armour. Batting may not have the most ideal start and even a dicey end – but it's the mid-innings partnerships that will solidify their platform. Bowling will be at ease and smart. Fielding will need to step up.

The Captain – AB de Villiers
It will be quite a juggling act for De Villiers. In fact he will need to be more practical to see his plans materialise.

India
Confused plans and some odd elements of risk may not be the way to go. The team does look uncomfortable, but their enthusiasm to fight is what will set them apart from their previous games. Batting and bowling will both show some lapses, but nothing that should hurt them badly. Sharp finishes will favour them. Fielding will sharper than usual.

The Captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Dhoni does seem under-confident which is why he will feel comfortable delaying his attack. This may be a wise thing, especially since he appears more balanced as the game progresses.

Tarot Advantage
A close one and toss dependent,

but Advantage: India

ODI 2 - A Comeback?

South Africa Vs India
2nd ODI – 8 December, 2013 - Durban

South Africa
Team South Africa will seem a little different today – aggressive, but unsure. A certain dis-balance and pressures will trouble them. Batting will be steady and will grow confidently, but it's the initial bowling that will be a concern. Fielding will be inconsistent.

The Captain – AB de Villiers
De Villiers will start off by making the right changes and adopting the right strategy, but maintaining this throughout the game will be tough. Nervousness and anxiety from past mistakes will be a cause for concern.

India
Team India is happy and in fact quite enthusiastic to fight this one. They're looking forward to the challenge – but aggression will have to be better directed as they may just get carried away; especially with their batting. Batting will require better focus and so will initial bowling. Overall their confidence will grow – their energy will be positive.

The Captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Dhoni's captaincy will definitely move up a scale. Although a little unrealistic with his ideas (at times), but it will be his odd decisions that will pay off.

Tarot Advantage
India

ODI 1: Who Takes The Lead?

South Africa Vs India
1st ODI – 5 December, 2013 - Johannesburg

South Africa
Collectively there will be a temperamental display of ideas and execution by team South Africa. They will find themselves having to work harder to create and maintain the right balance. A lot of this will have to be re-emphasised in their bowling and fielding as execution will be poorer than expected. Batting will be wise and steady.

The Captain – AB de Villiers
De Villiers' captaincy will be aggressive and innovative. He will not shy away from following his instincts. Overall his plans are confident and capable.

India
Enthusiastic for sure, but also a little confused – it seems as if this game will be quite a challenge for team India to overcome. They will have to be more calculative and stronger in imposing their strategies. Batting will start off well, but it's the latter half where most focus will be required. An improved direction will be seen from the bowling department – this renewed effort will bring with it much deserved rewards. Fielding will need to improve.

The Captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Dhoni hasn't quite adjusted yet, which is why it will be important for him to be more alert; rethink his decisions before acting upon them

Tarot Advantage
South Africa
