IPL 7 – Match 1: Mumbai Indians V Kolkata Knight Riders

Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians have a nervy start. Although they have put together their resources well and do feel confident about themselves, but this is a tough challenge. To translate their skills into real results may not be so simple. Batting will be inconsistent – despite a steady start; there will be dips which won't allow for a healthy momentum. Bowling is confident and balanced. Whereas fielding will show moments of brilliance, but a lack of focus will show. As a team they will have to be more realistic about how they approach the game.

The Captain – Rohit Sharma
Sharma is unduly nervous – he's creating unnecessary pressure upon himself. Although the team work and management will look positive, but he will find it tough to take things through to the end. A good start may not lead to a positive end.

Kolkata Knight Riders
It's a soft and tentative approach from KKR. As a management they're willing to take risks from the onset – a change in tactics will see them come through well. Their aggression and balance will appear most refined and apt in their batting. They do carry better confidence despite them being slower than their opposition. Bowling may not have the best start, but this will change as confidence is built. This will eventually steady to give better results. Fielding towards the end will come under strain - this will have to improve if they're to support their bowlers.

The Captain – Gautam Gambhir
Gambhir appears fresher and more positive than IPL 6. His balance and being able to understand the situation well will help him take more confident decisions. This growth will allow him to push at the opposition.

Tarot Advantage:
Kolkata Knight Riders.

IPL 7 – Match 2: Delhi Daredevils V Royal Challengers Bangalore

Delhi Daredevils
They appear and then they disappear. Delhi Daredevils will have their moments – at one point they will seem strong and very charismatic, but then they will start losing their way. Batting starts well and ends well – it's mid-way that they will begin to seem slower. This isn't so sensible as they could create problems for themselves. Bowling is well thought out, but end overs will lose focus. Fielding will be fairly consistent.

The Captain – Dinesh Karthik
Karthik has been thrown into the deep-end – although appearing pre-prepared, he will still find it a challenge to execute some well thought out plans. He will have to gather his thoughts and act faster if he is to do justice to his role today, otherwise he will feel disappointed with himself for making this game harder than it looks.

Royal Challengers Bangalore
It seems to be a temperamental day for RCB too. They're unsure and seem uncomfortable – more so with their bowling. Bowling maybe be more expensive than usual whereas batting will be strong and authoritative. Fielding will be smart too. But where does it go wrong? Well, it's just the lack of consistency and a constant fluctuation in plans that will create instability. Some quick last minute changes could end up saving them.

The Captain – Virat Kohli
Kohli is over working this. He isn't calm and believes he has a point to prove. The IPL 6 hangover is still there. He will have to take a back seat and slow down if he is to receive benefit from match situations. Constantly appear agitated will effect the potential authority he can stamp on this game as a captain.
Tarot Advantage:
Royal Challengers Bangalore

IPL 7 – Match 3: Chennai Super Kings V Kings XI Punjab

Chennai Super Kings
A little risky in their approach, CSK will make it a point to add challenges not only for the opposition, but for themselves too. As the game progresses they will begin to look well oiled, with glimpses of the strong team we're used to seeing. Batting will initially feel like a battle – where strong application and a structured innings will see them do well. Bowling will be well planned and executed. It's fielding that will have to look more in command – being too complacent will cause problems.

The Captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni
This match won't be the best display of Dhoni's captaincy. He will appear confused and a little too soft. He may not agree with his pre-match ideas and may choose to be unnecessarily defensive.

Kings XI Punjab
KXIP seem nervous and apprehensive too, but what they show outwardly will be disciplined aggression. This will be more so with their bowling and fielding – where smart execution will give them rewards. Initial batting will seem confused and unstable; it's towards the end that this will improve. What works for them today is their enthusiasm.

The Captain – George Bailey
It's a game of adjustment for Bailey. He won't be easing into the role of captaincy, instead it will be a bit of a stop-start for him - he will build his confidence up, only for it to be deflated and then again to propel it up again. His wise decision making will bring out a lot of team positives.

Tarot Advantage:
Chennai Super Kings

IPL 7 – Match 4: Sunrisers Hyderabad V Rajasthan Royals

Sunrisers Hyderabad
Outwardly, things may not feel right about the Sunrisers – but all that's just temporary. In fact their aggression will be well directed and even productive. Batting will be effective, but bowling will not be far behind either. Fielding will be sharp and positive. So not a lot going wrong, but maintaining intensity in middle over bowling and batting is what will make the difference.

The Captain – Shikhar Dhawan
Dhawan will be tempted to adopt a defensive approach from time to time – but this may not work so well. He will need to generate some faith in pre-decided strategies as they will be beneficial. Overall, this first match of the season will help him grow in confidence.

Rajasthan Royals
It's hard to rule out a team like the Royals. But what does trouble them this game is their fear and anxiety. Wanting to prove too much in one go will only confuse themselves. Instead, the focus needs to be on creating balance. Batting will have to be better applied and bowling/fielding will have to show more intensity. They're not facing a tough opposition, instead they're facing a well directed one. Hence they will have to gather themselves better.

The Captain – Shane Watson
Watson's ideas may seem unrealistic and even just pushing for too much too quickly. As the match progresses, he will manage to understand situations better and show good skills as a captain.

Tarot Advantage:
Sunrisers Hyderabad

IPL 7 – Match 5: Royal Challengers Bangalore V Mumbai Indians

Royal Challengers Bangalore
There's a streak of confidence about RCB. They take their positive first win into this game too – especially with their batting, which although will show some cracks but not ones that will leave lasting damage. Bowling starts and ends well – but inconsistent fielding will bring some troubled mid-overs.

The Captain – Virat Kohli
Strangely, Kohli is anxious, despite having the right team dynamics, his nervousness will lead him to delay his tactics. He does have to be careful of leaving things just a little too late.

Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians are certainly disappointed with their start and believe they're capable of much better – which they are, but there are areas which will not work well for them. Bowling will be patchy, but effective at crucial times. Fielding will seem out of sync. Batting will show more confidence and consistency. It isn't one of their finest performances, but a definite improvement from their first one.

The Captain – Rohit Sharma
Sharma's captaincy is on the right path, but he will have the tendency to lose belief – this will have an impact on the team and the result. The problem with Sharma is that he feels he is low on resources, when in fact he isn't. He will have to get over this quite quickly if he is be a more effective captain.

Tarot Advantage:
Royal Challengers Bangalore

IPL 7 – Match 6: Kolkata Knight Riders V Delhi Daredevils

Kolkata Knight Riders
For KKR it's all about hard work and application. A formula they will continue to adopt in this game too. They will have to be most careful with their batting – an inconsistent start will push them on the back foot, hence wasting crucial time to consolidate, but luckily a recovery is likely. Bowling will need to be more aggressive, otherwise the opposition will push to capitalise on such strategies. Fielding will be confident.

The Captain – Gautam Gambhir
A little unrealistic at times, and sometimes a little negative too – Gambhir will pull himself out of temperamental thoughts and find a comfort zone in which he will be able to take better control of his team and the situations they will get themselves in.

Delhi Daredevils
Delhi has better plans, but inconsistent execution. Although a better display of cricket in this game, Delhi will have to be more aggressive. Batting will have some magical moments and a good player innings will be seen. Bowling will start well, and may even put them in a strong position, but again – it'll be tough to maintain consistency. Fielding may just be too expensive.

The Captain – Dinesh Karthik
Karthik now seems more at ease as a captain. He will appear in control for quite a large part of the match, but his errors will come towards the end where he will become unnecessarily defensive. Instant tactical changes will not work out well.

Tarot Advantage:
Kolkata Knight Riders

IPL 7 – Match 7: Rajasthan Royals V Kings XI Punjab

Rajasthan Royals
The Royals seem to have a softer but a more calculative approach against KXIP. But they could do get themselves into trouble by delaying their attacks. Batting will be steady and sensible, whereas bowling will have to face a tougher challenge. Fielding will have to be more aggressive.

The Captain – Shane Watson
Watson is well balanced, but he will benefit from re-strategising, as initial ideas may not work in his favour. Instability in individual performances may force some changes.

Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI are well planned, but they have to be careful of going on the defensive a little too soon – or even when it's not required. Batting will be confident with a good innings on display – weariness will come towards the end. Whereas bowling will take longer to adjust and may seem more effective in the latter half. Fielding will be strong.

The Captain – George Bailey
Bailey isn't entirely feeling right – but he has faith in his team and the tactics they wish to follow. As the game progresses, his confidence will grow and so will the team's performance.

Tarot Advantage:
Kings XI Punjab

IPL 7 – Match 8: Chennai Super Kings V Delhi Daredevils

Chennai Super Kings
It's a cool, calm and collected team, yet strategies are a little out of place. They will learn this the hard way, but this will also push them to apply themselves and create the right situations that will allow for better successes. Batting is confident with some strong partnerships. Bowling will start with the right intensity, but towards the end it will lose aggression. Fielding will be inconsistent.

The Captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Dhoni is gathering himself well and is appearing more in sync with the game. His regained focus will have the team benefit, especially as his assessments will be more accurate than the previous game.

Delhi Daredevils
The Daredevils will be highly competitive. Their tactics are well planned, but execution may not be to such a level. Batting will have its' moments of glory but this too will be patchy. Bowling will still have a better start but this will not hold till the end. Fielding will be strong and effective.

The Captain – Kevin Pietersen
Although Pietersen will be an instinctive captain, he will find it tough to translate this into result giving action. He may even appear confused and may start to lose direction. The team's plans will be his saving grace – it's better if he sticks to it.

Tarot Advantage:
Chennai Super Kings

IPL 7 – Match 9: Kings XI Punjab V Sunrisers Hyderabad

Kings XI Punjab
There's an air of confidence about the team. Although their strategies may not be so sound, but their energy is high and aggressive. Batting is positive with strong partnerships. Bowling is in better control and well coordinated. Overall fielding is smart but with some lapses.

The Captain – George Bailey
Bailey needs to be careful of relying on pre-decided strategies. Instead, instinctive actions will be more beneficial. His captaincy will be balanced and consistent.

Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers start well and even execute their plans well, but they will find it tough to continue this momentum. They will put up a tough fight, but bowling may not be so consistent. Batting will have an important middle over performance. Fielding will be effective.

The Captain – Shikhar Dhawan
Dhawan's captaincy is well balanced and clear. His positivity is infectious but he will have to hold this through till the end to see them through.

Tarot Advantage:
Kings XI Punjab

Wednesday, 23rd April 2014 (8pm IST)
IPL 7 – Match 10: Rajasthan Royals V Chennai Super Kings

Rajasthan Royals
The Royals may not have the ideal game plan, but they will still manage to pull themselves together and perform with some command. Their batting will have an aggressive start but they will be pulled back; their nervousness could be a cause for this. Overall bowling will be balanced, but some basic errors will cost them. Fielding appears inconsistent.

The Captain – Shane Watson
Although secure and comfortable with his ideas, Watson's temperamental mindset may cause him to take decisions that are extreme; sometimes too soft and sometimes too aggressive.

Chennai Super Kings
The Super Kings are still finding their way. Positive yes, but they will need to be weary of going on the defensive when it matters most (right towards the end). Batting will be their saving grace as it will be balanced and positively aggressive. Bowling may not look the most comfortable, but they will still manage to provide some stability. Fielding will be an important factor as its' support will bring important twists.

The Captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Highly resourceful, independent thinking Dhoni will have some odd ideas. Most of his experiments will work very well for the team, but there will be those one or two strange decisions that will not work out.

Tarot Advantage:
Chennai Super Kings

IPL 7 – Match 11: Royal Challengers Bangalore V Kolkata Knight Riders

Royal Challengers Bangalore
This game ends up being like a chase for RCB – they're playing catch up. Despite the right balance, they will find themselves having to push things right to the end. Batting will be steady with some strong middle overs. Bowling will work to a plan, but fielding will be inconsistent. So where could it go wrong for them? There will be periods of silly confusions that could throw them off track.

The Captain – Virat Kohli
Kohli will have to be very careful of wanting to make multiple changes all at once. He's adding unnecessary pressure on himself which won't allow him to make and follow his strategies with clarity. Last minute calm and focus could just help him get through this.

Kolkata Knight Riders
The Knight Riders are focusing on the basics. Their plans are wise and simple; allowing the team to move ahead with clarity. Batting will display some good partnerships. They will have to improve their bowling; which in the latter half will be stable. Fielding too in the second half will be better.

The Captain – Gautam Gambhir
There is some strange confusion in Gambhir's demeanour – but mentally he's quite clear and open to making quick changes. He's going to be a pro-active captain that will understand how to pull the team out of some disappointing moments.

Tarot Advantage:
Kolkata Knight Riders
