4th Test - England V India

4th Test - 7-11 August, 2014, Manchester
England Vs India

England
Team England do appear to be the more confident side, but they will have to refrain from from making quick and unnecessary changes – otherwise instability will set in. A loss of focus will create pressure, despite some positive sessions.

1st Innings
Batting will start and will continue into a strong innings; it's towards the end that it may not hold up too well. Bowling will be balanced and instinctive – better application will be required for it to generate quicker results.

2nd Innings
What works is consistency, and that's what they should manage to achieve in both batting and bowling. This is where complacency can set in and even the eagerness to change their combinations – that's unadvisable.

The Captain - Alastair Cook
Confident captaincy could lose its' way. Cook will need to be more pro-active, as reactive captaincy could see a delay in results.

India
This isn't the best display of Test match cricket from team India, but there is fire in this team. They're looking to learn and rectify their mistakes quite quickly, but will it be enough? Probably yes.

1st Innings
Batting will have to work hard, but this application will give them a secure innings, whereas bowling will have a weak start and hence it will take them longer to find the right balance.

2nd Innings
Initial batting will need to be better controlled, especially as the middle overs could be weak and will take much longer to settle. Batting towards the end will be better executed. Bowling will be aggressive and effective.

The Captain – Mahendra Singh Dhoni
Some wise captaincy and some good fortune will help Dhoni gather the right momentum. He will be positive and will manage to reduce his anxieties by being authoritative. He won't shy away from the challenge and will do his best to keep his team in check.
